Sludge, varnish, and carbon buildup in engines can accelerate wear by inhibiting oil flow and blocking vital oil passages that provide lubrication to engine components. Sludge buildup reduces oil flow and engine cooling, this promotes excessive wear on internal engine rings and bearings and leads to eventual engine failure. Sludge buildup can cause leakage in seals and gaskets as it blocks fresh oil from wetting the seals and gaskets and keeping them swollen. Dry seals and gaskets will eventually shrink, crack, and leak. Sludge buildup is the number one killer of seals and gaskets in an internal combustion engine.

AMSOIL Fast Acting Engine Flush is made from a carefully selected blend of solvents and special cleaning agents that dissolve and disperse harmful deposits (sludge, varnish, and carbon) formed in the crankcase, cylinder walls, pistons and rings of an internal combustion engine.
